This AR collection of very short read contains Badger Learning titles for reluctant and struggling readers. Ideal for building up reading miles, the books contain typical ingredients associated with hi-lo, such as clear fonts, well-spaced page layouts and low level vocabulary. Includes AR Levels 3.0–3.9.

Accelerated Reader is a whole school reading monitoring programme, designed to motivate pupils to read more independently. The software, developed by Renaissance Learning, is popular in UK schools and in many countries around the world. Accelerated Reader provides tools for teachers to assess the current reading level and comprehension of students and then this information along with pupils’ interests, is used to guide their reading choices. Students choose from “real” books that have been levelled by Renaissance Learning (AR books) within their reading level range, read them, and then take quizzes to test their comprehension. The programme tracks students' progress over time, providing valuable data to teachers about their students' reading levels and comprehension skills. This personalised approach combined with access to appealing books by brilliant authors helps students become stronger readers and by fostering a love of reading.
