The Black level of book bands for those who are confidently reading in Year 6 or super confident readers in Year 5 working at Greater Depth Standard (GDS). These titles provide the level of challenge needed to stretch advanced readers while continuing to develop a love of reading.
Book bands are a system used in UK primary schools (ages 4–11) to categorise reading books by difficulty level. They typically use a book band colour code to represent each level, making it easier for students, teachers and parents to identify books that are appropriate for a child's reading ability.
